Overview
Eight nights tracing the imperial route — Marrakech, Meknes, Volubilis, Fes and Chefchaouen — with private historians, riads inside every medina and a dedicated driver throughout.
This is our flagship cultural journey: the four royal capitals plus the Roman city of Volubilis and the blue medina of Chefchaouen. You stay inside every medina, in riads we've vetted for ten years; you walk with university-trained historians in each city; you eat with families, not in tourist restaurants.
Driving days are short (never more than 4 hours), with scenic stops for cedar forests, olive cooperatives, and panoramic kasbahs. The pace is slow enough for real conversation — fast enough to see the whole north of Morocco in a week.
Trip highlights
- Private historian guides in Marrakech, Meknes, Volubilis & Fes
- Nights in courtyard riads inside every medina
- Roman Volubilis at golden hour — almost empty
- Fes medina deep-dive (oldest continuously inhabited city)
- Blue medina of Chefchaouen, two slow days
- Private cooking class with a Fassi family

Frequently asked
Questions about this tour.
Is "Imperial Cities, Privately" private or a group tour?
100% private. Just you and the people you book with — your own driver, vehicle and pace from start to finish. We never pool travellers.
Can I change the dates or itinerary?
Yes. Every itinerary is a starting point. Add a day, swap a riad, change the start city — we'll re-quote in 24 hours and lock the price in writing before any deposit.
How fit do I need to be?
Moderate. Expect 2–4 hours of light walking per day and one or two longer driving days. We pace days carefully and stop often.
When should I book?
For high season (Oct–Apr) and any trip involving the Sahara or hot-air balloon, book 8–12 weeks ahead. Last-minute (under 14 days) is usually still possible with a phone call.
